About Active Dogs of Asheville
Built Around The Dog
In Front Of Us
Training should fit the dog, the owner, and the real life they live together. Meeting you and your dog where your current skill sets are, then building from there. Our work is rooted in clarity, fulfillment, communication, and practical skills that hold up outside of training sessions.

A Plan Built Around Your Dog
We don’t believe in cookie-cutter training. Every dog is an individual, and their training should reflect who they are. What motivates them, what challenges them, what fulfills them, and what your real life together actually requires. We create individualized plans that coordinate with your schedule, routines, and realistic expectations.
Real-Life Reliability
We focus on the skills that actually matter in daily life, including calmer walks, trail manners, public spaces, guests in the home, everyday routines, transitions, freedom, and clear communication between you and your dog.
Connection
We start by looking at the dog in front of us, not a label, trend, or template, while honoring who they are as an individual.
Fulfillment
Training works best when it supports who your dog is by finding what motivates them and using that understanding to build better communication between you.
Clarity
We help owners build clearer handling, timing, structure, and shared language.
Coaching
Clarity is built through coaching, practice, feedback, and real-life follow through.

Training Rooted In
Real Life
Active Dogs of Asheville is built on the belief that good training starts with understanding the dog in front of us. Every dog brings their own temperament, history, drives, needs, and way of moving through the world.
As someone who’s worked in veterinary medicine for years, I have always been building bridges between humans and their pets. I have worked in general practice, emergency, and shelter medicine, gaining experience with animals across many different environments and stages of life. Though I loved helping animals medically, I felt drawn to pursue helping dogs feel good outside of the hospital setting as well.
Through internships and mentorships, I was able to gain knowledge and practical experience, and I am regularly continuing my education to better understand the most effective and practical ways to coexist with our dogs. That experience has reinforced my belief that every dog must be approached as an individual.
My goal is to help owners build clearer communication, more confidence, and practical skills that actually hold up in daily life at home, on walks, and out in real life. Through thoughtful, individualized training, I aim to help both dogs and their owners feel more capable, connected, and confident.
